  • Synopsis

This book was drawn from a series of lectures given by the author in 1911 to the Pitlochry Boy Scouts and in turn provided the material for a more comprehensive work on this popular Highland town published in 1925 - "Pitlochry: Past and Present".

The guide offers a full topographic of the town and its surrounding areas with chapters on its earliest inhabitants, its Pictish settlements, its early Christian churches in the Tummel and Garry valleys and key historic events that include the famous Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689.

The book is well illustrated with local period photographs of landscapes and standing stone sites.

  • Condition Notes

A well presented edition with a clean bright red linen backed cover. There is some looseness to the book but is holding up well for a softcover of this age and will stay so with careful handling. Inside the pages are clean and bright throughout with usual age related tanning.
