Additional Product Information
Sir John William Dawson (1820–1899) of Scottish descent, was a Canadian geologist and university administrator.
Born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, he attended and graduated from Pictou Academy. Dawson went on to attend the University of Edinburgh to complete his education, and graduated in 1842, having gained a knowledge of geology and natural history from Robert Jameson.
Dawson returned to Nova Scotia in 1842, accompanying Sir Charles Lyell on his first visit to that territory.
This is his attempt to tell the story of the geological evolution of planet Earth and man's place in the timeline.
Condition Notes
This is a fine late Victorian edition with beautiful cover boards with gilt titles on the spine and front cover image. There is some fading and rubbing but the book remains well bound and attractive.
The inside pages are bright and clean throughout. There is a small stamp that appears randomly on several pages for "Chambers Chemist - Brighton." It does not devalue the presentation.
Please check the images associated with this Book to gain a clear insight into the book's condition and if you require further details please send an email enquiry.
