This is the story of the Clan Mackintosh, from their origins in the twelfth century, and of the Clan Chattan, with whom the Clan Mackintosh united. In the Thirteenth century the chiefs of the Clan Mackintosh through marriage with an heiress, became the chiefs also of the great community of the Clan Chattan, which included the Clan Macpherson, Macbean, Farquharson, Davidson, MacGillivray, Macqueen, Shaw and Maclean of Dochgarroch, with all their many septs.
Through many centuries the warlike spirit of the Clan Mackintosh and the Clan Chattan ensured them an eventful history; in 1715 and in 1745 they took up arms for the exiled Stuart Kings. The clan fight at Perth in 1396, Harlaw (1411), the last clan battle at Mulroy in 1688, the "Rout of Moy" and Prince Charlie's visit to Moy Hall two months before Culloden (1746) are a few only of numerous romantic incidents here set on record.
The book includes 50 illustrations, portraits of clan chiefs, photographs of historic relics, an Coloured representations of Chief's Arms. In addition eight tartans are reproduced in colour. There are four maps.
Condition Notes
Overall the book is in good condition - the un-clipped dustcover does have significant scuffing as well as fraying along the edges and some tears however it remains an integral part of the whole book. Inside the pages are bright and clean throughout.
