    As a young man the author tramped with a notebook and sketchbook through the hills and glens of Scotland. His drawings and anecdotes of those treks are recorded in this book.

    Alexander Maitland was born in 1940 in Glasgow where he studied  becoming an author, artist and lecturer. His watercolours have been exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute and the Royal Academy, besides annual exhibitions in Scotland.
