Synopsis
Northern Skye includes the greater a greater part of the considerable expanse of plateau lavas of Tertiary age which form a large part of the Island of Skye. This work provides a detailed account of the field relations and the petrography of these important volcanic rocks and their intrusive associates. Outcrops of Jurassic sediments afford magnificent coast sections, the stratigraphy and palaeontology of which are described. Spectaculat landslips accur in Trotternish.
