The work celebrates Scotland's great waterway that is synonymous with Glasgow. The book explores the river from source on a barren nook 1,550 above sea level in the Parish of Crawford near to Elvanfoot to the firth dominated on the north by Highland crags and lochs an to the south by farms and verdure of the lowlands.
The book binding was the work of Albert Angus Turbayne (May 3, 1866 – April 29, 1940), an American book designer and bookbinding artist
Condition Notes
This is an extremely handsome volume in the elegant bindings of early 20th century by Adam and Charles Black. The cover boards are in very good condition with strong gilt titles and vignette. There is just some light bumping along the edges and at the corner.
Inside the pages are bright and clean throughout with some random foxing towards the page margins and edges. The top paper edge is in gilt.
All Images present with tissue guards in place and pull out sketch map of the course of the River from source to sea in very good condition.
