A so-called "biased" biography of John Duncan Ferguson one of Scotland's most important and respected 20th century artists and regarded as one of the major artists of the Scottish Colourists school of painting.
The biography is split into 5 distinct periods:
Scotland 1874-1905
Paris 1905-1914
London 1914-1925
Paris 1925-1939
Scotland 1939-1962
The Author, Margaret Morris was a long term partner of the Artist living with him in his formative Parisian years where their mutual friends included Derain and Picasso amongst others and after returning to Scotland in 1939 co-founded the new Celtic Movement with him.
She invited the Scottish Poet Hugh MacDiarmid to write the foreword for the book.
About the Author
Margaret Morris(1891-1980) was a colourful 20th century bohemian known as a dancer, choreographer, artist and teacher. She had a long-term partnership with the Scottish artist John Duncan Fergusson whom she met in Paris in 1913 but never married.
