    This was Stevenson's last published work and was actually recorded from dictation by his stepdaughter Mrs Strong during the final months of the writer's life between 1893-1894. The work remained unfinished at his death and the final chapter was entrusted to a Mr Quiller-Couch so that the novel would be published as a completed novel.
