Additional Product Information
Publisher James M'Kie or James McKie(1816–1891) was one of the great collectors of Burnsiana which is now housed by East Ayrshire Council Arts and Museums Service.
James M'kie became well aware of the scarcity of the original works published during Burns' lifetime and felt that Burn's many admirers would welcome the opportunity to own exact reproductions of these orginal works. So between 1866 and 1886 he produced at least sixteen editions with variants, limiting each publication to 600 copies and all produced in the familair original bindings of blue boards & paper spines. The publications were highly regarded with all the copies sold by subscription prior to printing.
This book is in fair condition overall and remains tightly bound
The blue paper covered boards have some age related soiling . There is bruising on the corners and some fraying along the top and bottom of the spine.
The inside pages pages have age-related tanning and minor spotting throughout but they remain bright and clear.
