Additional Product Information
William Alexander LLD (1826 - 1894) was a Scottish journalist and author. His most widely known novel Johnny Gibb of Gushetneuk published in 1871.
He was very involved in the land reform movement and this book of sketches describe the harsh consequences of economic and social change for crottars and labourers.
This really is a very rare and well presented 1st edition of William Alexander's book with its beautifully designed cover. There is some wear and tear around the edges and corners an especially at the base of the spine. The overall binding remains good with just some delicate looseness. The text pages remain bright and clean throughout.
