It traces the the origins of the various Tweeds and the creation of the House of Johnstons of Elgin in 1797. It discusses the company's expansion from the mid1850's and into the early 20th century and its subsequent development of the use of Cashmere and its links with China.
Importantly half of the book is dedicated to actual size photographic images of the main Estate Tweeds accompanied by full descriptions of the estates they are linked to.
