Additional Product Information
James John Haldane Burgess (1862-1927) was a prolific writer and socialist who lived most of his life in Lerwick. Rasmie was an early nom de plume of Mr Burgess. He studied at both Glasgow & Edinburgh Universities and was a distinguished linguist speaking many Scandinavian and European languages as well as some Asian languages.
This book is a collection of his poems in Shetlandic and supposedly was written as a response to those who said that the dialect was incapable of expressing great thought or feeling
