A large Art Deco silver presentation Quaich hallmarked Glasgow 1934
This is a large and rare Art Deco Scottish silver presentation Quaich made by J.R. & W. laing (stamped on the bottom) and hallmarked Glasgow, 1934.
It has a plain circular form with lug handles.
The imposing size of this Quaich lends itself to being offered as a presenation piece where an engraving can be added to the exteriour of the bowl.

The word Quaich comes form the Gaelic word "cuach" (cup or bowl). It is often referred to as a friendship or love cup generally with two handles although 3 or 4 handle quaiches have been made. Sharing the cup demonstrates a trust between 2 individuals or groups of people. You can fill the cup with a drink of your choice however it is usually whisky.
