Synopsis
The preface makes it clear that this collection of folklore stories about amongst other subjects, fairies, ghosts and witches, are in no way proven but are simply beliefs and stories that the author gathered over many years as a teacher in the Highlands, notably in Easter and Wester Ross, Lewis, Sutherland and Caithness. He often challenged his pupils to gather tales from their families and friends and write them down as part of an English composition. These stories have now become an important part of the history of the Highland and Gaelic people.
