Douglas Dunn was born in 1942 and grew up in Inchinnan in Renfrewshire. Hew worked as a librarian in Britain and the United States and finally appointed Professor in the School of English at the University of St Andrews in 1991. His poetry has won him the Somerset Maugham Award and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize.
