Synopsis
The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a museum of Scottish history and culture.
In 1998 a new extension to the existing Museum was opened. Designed by architects Benson & Forsyth it is attached to the original Royal Museum, a Victorian building of 1861 styled in a Italian neo-renaissance style by Captain Francis Fowke and sited in Edinburgh's Old Town.
The old and new buildings together are known as the National Museum of Scotland, housing a collection of objects related to Scottish history and culture arranged in thematic galleries.
This book produced by the architects is a photographic record of the new building from all angles and vistas. Other than the photographs, the book contains three short essays and the technical drawings.
