Synopsis
This book is a record of the warm friendship between two great writers of the late Victorian era who first met in Bournemouth in the early summer of 1985 soon after the publication of Stevenson's Treasure Island. They had previously encountered each other through Longman's Magazine when James published his critical essay "Art of Fiction". This is included in this collection along with nine years of correspondence between the two literary greats. The book is illustrated with facsimile of some letters and poems as well as portraits of both men.
