Synopsis
Sir Patrick Vans of Barnbarroch (1529-1597), or Patrick Vaus, was a Scottish judge, courtier and diplomat during the turbulent Tudor period. Invested as a Knight in 1583 he held the office of Scottish Ambassador to Denmark in 1587 and was instrumental in the arrangement of marriage between King James VI to Anne of Denmark. He held the office of Lord of the Privy Council in 1587. In 1589 he accompanied King James VI to Norway.
Condition Notes
Two elegant volumes of historical importance. Both volumes are well bound with beige cloth cover boards and vignette. There is some staining to the boards, more noticeable on the front of Volume II and some light fraying at the top and bottom of each spine. The inside pages are bright and clean throughout with natural age-related tanning.
